about

Award-winning composer Patrick Kendell-Smith is a UK-based orchestrator and arranger who specialises in writing music for film, television and trailers. His score for the breakthrough short Sometimes They Sing won Best Original Score in the short film category at the International Sound and Film Music Festival and the Best Film award in the Manchester Lift-Off Film Festival. Patrick’s work for Dream Wild Film’s Marmots on Toast awarded him with another nomination at ISFMF, and the film was also a finalist in the Shorts – Wildlife & Environment category of the Jackson Wild 2024 Media Awards. Further works have been featured in trailers for Netflix and Pathé films, such as I’m Thinking of Ending Things, Snabba Cash and Lui.

His music benefits from a vast musical experience, a diverse taste in music mixed with a long history of classical training and experimentalism. His recent Adaptations series has seen acclaim from industry professionals with unique experimental covers of modern pop songs and popular folk tracks. Patrick uses his lifetime training in classical piano and orchestral/chamber string writing, which he refined upon completing his Masters degree from the University of Bristol in Composition for Film and Television, but also likes to experiment with sound palettes to suit his clients’ needs.

Patrick is also the co-founder of the music production company Stems + Waves, with the aim to streamline and simplify the process of sourcing high-quality, affordable music. You can read more here.
